An increasing number of people now accept that to be happy and successful, balance at both home and work is vital.

For me, as a business owner and a mother, finding a work/life balance has always been one of my utmost priorities.

I wanted to share with you three tips I have found that help me to find balance –

Work out in the morning

Exercise is self-care with a number of proven benefits including stress reduction. During the summer, I aim to exercise for an hour outside, and even in the winter, I ensure I spend 25 minutes getting my heart rate up. Carving out time in the morning allows me to show up for the remainder of the day at home and work.

The 80/20 rule

When tackling tasks I operate a 80/20 rule, focusing the first 80% of my time on the most important tasks. Any trivial tasks, I handle during breaks or when I am running errands.

The bicycle philosophy

Albert Einstein once said, ‘Life can be compared to riding a bicycle. To keep balance, you must keep moving.’ I always keep moving. If I feel myself needing to reset, I seek out things that nurture me – this could be reading a good book, visiting an art gallery, or meeting a friend for a coffee.
